Connect Copilot Studio
Add FreeAML as an MCP tool in Copilot Studio. You sign in with an email code, and nothing is emailed until you confirm.
Updated 12 October 2026
You connect one workspace at https://mcp.freeaml.com.au. Copilot Studio uses Streamable HTTP. Sign-in is the same email code as sign-in. FreeAML emails that code.
Your client still pays and completes the check on FreeAML. The agent does not take payment and it does not collect identity documents.
Microsoft documents two ways to add an existing MCP server. Use the one that matches the agent you have open. Both pages are on Microsoft Learn: Connect your agent to an existing MCP server for the standard harness, and Add an MCP server for the GitHub Copilot harness.
Standard harness
Microsoft’s recommended path is the MCP onboarding wizard on an agent that uses the standard harness.
- 1
Go to the Tools page for your agent.
- 2
Select Add a tool.
- 3
Select New tool.
- 4
Select Model Context Protocol.
- 5
Fill in Server name, Server description, and Server URL. Use FreeAML as the name. For the description, say that it sends a client an identity verification and can check status and credits. Set Server URL to
https://mcp.freeaml.com.au. - 6
Select OAuth 2.0.
- 7
Select Dynamic discovery. FreeAML publishes the discovery documents and lets Copilot Studio register itself. Do not choose Manual, and do not type a client id or a client secret.
- 8
Select Create, then Next.
- 9
On Add tool, select Create a new connection, or an existing FreeAML connection.
- 10
Select Add to agent.
- 11
When FreeAML opens, enter your email, then the code we email you, and choose one workspace.
GitHub Copilot harness
Microsoft marks this path as prerelease. It is for an agent powered by the GitHub Copilot harness.
- 1
Sign in to Copilot Studio and open your agent.
- 2
In the agent navigation bar, select the Build tab.
- 3
In the components panel on the right, select Tools.
- 4
In the Add a tool dialog, select Add next to the search bar, then Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- 5
On Add MCP server, enter Name, Description, and Server URL. Use the same name, description, and
https://mcp.freeaml.com.auas above. For Authentication, choose OAuth and dynamic discovery when those choices are shown. - 6
Select Add. Copilot Studio contacts FreeAML and lists the tools.
- 7
Review the tool names, then select Save.
What you can do
- See the credit balance for this workspace. Credits belong to the workspace. To buy credits, open Credits.
- Check the status of a verification, and list recent ones. You see whether it is paid, a masked client label, and a report link when the report is ready.
- Prepare a new verification, then confirm it. Your client’s email is required. A reference and a role are optional.
- Resend the invite email for a check that already has an email. That does not start a new paid check.
Who pays, and the service charge
When your client pays, they choose a person ($20) or an entity ($40) on the FreeAML link. The service charge starts at $0. You can choose $25, $50, or $100 for that verification only. There is no saved default. Check your state’s rules before you add a service charge.
When your workspace pays, you choose person ($20) or entity ($40) before you confirm. Your client is emailed after you pay on FreeAML. There is no service charge on a workspace-pays check. The money stays on the workspace, not on a personal card stored in Copilot Studio.
What this connection does not do
- It does not lodge an SMR, TTR, or IFTI for you. You lodge those yourself with AUSTRAC.
- It does not send the sign-in code by anything other than email.
- It does not show identity document images.
- It does not delete a verification, change your team, or buy credits from the agent.
- It does not connect a second workspace. Disconnect and connect again to switch.
Which workspace can the agent see?
Only the one you chose when you connected.
Where does my client finish the check?
On FreeAML. The agent sends the invite after you confirm. Payment and identity capture stay on our pages.
What if Copilot Studio asks for a callback URL?
Dynamic discovery registers that address for you. You do not create a separate app registration to connect your own agent.
