How to complete your FreeAML verification

Open the link a business sent you, choose the right check, and follow the on-screen steps.

What to do

  1. Open the link in the email you were sent.
  2. If the page asks, choose what you are verifying: yourself, a company, a trust, or an SMSF.
  3. If the page asks you to pay, pay the amount shown. If it says the fee is already paid, you will not be charged.
  4. On Before we begin, confirm your information is true, then follow the on-screen steps.
  5. When the check is complete, the report goes to the business that asked for it.

If you are verifying a company, type its exact registered name and ACN. Do not type a trust name or a trust ABN, including one that has been cancelled. Do not upload a trust deed. This company link does not verify directors or shareholders. They get their own links.

If you are verifying a trust or an SMSF, type the name and the ABN. The deed is a PDF, JPEG, or PNG under 4 MB. The business that sent you this email uploads it on FreeAML. You do not upload it on the identity pages.

[0:00] Got a verification request? Here's what to do, step by step. [0:04] Why you got this email. The business you're dealing with, such as a real estate agent, accountant, lawyer or conveyancer, must verify who they deal with under Australia's AML/CTF laws. They use FreeAML to do it. [0:11] Step 1 of 5: Open the link in the email. It opens FreeAML securely in your browser. [0:17] Step 2 of 5: Choose what you're verifying. Choose Individual (KYC) if you're verifying yourself, or Company / Trust (KYB) if you're verifying a business or trust. Verifying an SMSF? Choose Company / Trust. [0:24] Step 3 of 5: Pay, if the page asks. The amount is shown on the page. Already paid for? You won't be charged. [0:30] Step 4 of 5: Agree to the terms. On "Before we begin", tick the box to agree to the terms and consent to the verification, then select Continue. [0:35] Step 5 of 5: Your verification begins. - If it's yourself: your photo ID and a selfie, using your device's camera. - If it's a company: the exact registered name and ACN. No trust name, and no trust deed. - If it's a trust or SMSF: the trust or fund name and ABN. The business uploads the trust deed. [0:46] All done. Your report goes to the business that asked. [0:52] Verifying a company or trust? Directors, shareholders or people on the trust deed each get their own link. You may be asked for their email addresses. [0:59] Your transaction moves ahead.
