Multi-office agency: one enrolment or many?

A multi-office agency enrols once for each legal entity that provides the designated service. Shopfronts of the same company are not extra enrolments.

Quick answer

One company with three offices is one enrolment. Three companies, even under one brand, are three enrolments if each provides the service. A reporting group does not erase that count, and this page does not tell you to form one. Name the ABN that exchanges the contract before you count the doors.

People search “multi office real estate AUSTRAC enrolment” when a brand with three shopfronts asks whether each front door needs its own AUSTRAC enrolment. Checked against AUSTRAC's enrol page on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. How a group of related entities is organised is AUSTRAC reporting groups. The enrolment steps are the AUSTRAC enrolment guide. The sector map is /tranche-2.

Count companies, not front doors

An office is a place the same business works from. AUSTRAC enrolment follows the business that provides the designated service, which for an agency is the legal entity selling or brokering the property. Three leases and one company are one enrolment. Three companies that each exchange contracts are three, even if the signs on the awnings match.

Franchise groups get this wrong in both directions. Some enrol every shopfront of a single company, and some enrol only the franchisor and hope the licensees are covered. Look at who is named on the appointment and who receives the commission, and that entity is the one to test. A reporting group is a later organising choice, and it is a different page, and it is not a substitute for asking which entities provide the service.

  • One ABN, one enrolment. Extra offices of that company are branches. List them if the form asks. Do not enrol the door.
  • A new company is a new question. A licensee with its own ABN is not a room in the franchisor's enrolment.
  • The brand is not the entity. Matching logos do not merge companies.
  • The group page is separate. Forming a reporting group is not the answer to how many shopfronts you have.

Where the office-count page stops

This page is how many enrolments a multi-office agency is looking at. It is not how to form a reporting group, and it is not the enrolment form itself. Those are AUSTRAC reporting groups and the AUSTRAC enrolment guide.

What the client pays

On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. Each enrolment is not a platform fee, and customer checks for every office stay client-pays rather than a per-door subscription. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not enrol your offices or decide how many reporting entities you are.
