Customer risk assessment worksheet one page
A customer risk assessment worksheet is one page on this customer. It is not the firm-wide ML/TF risk assessment.
Quick answer
Keep the sheet to one page: who the customer is, what service you are providing, and the factors your program told you to look at, and the rating is one the program allows. A worksheet does not invent a score. The firm-wide assessment is a different document. When the rating says verify, the firm emails a link and the client pays.
People search “customer risk assessment worksheet” when a principal wants a single page that a file clerk can complete without turning it into the whole program. Checked against AUSTRAC’s page on assigning customer risk ratings on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. A longer question set is the customer risk assessment questionnaire. The business-level document is the ML/TF risk assessment for Tranche 2. The sector map is /tranche-2.
What fits on one page
The worksheet answers one question: what ML/TF risk does the program give this customer for this service, and a suburban agency, a two-partner firm, and a tax practice can use the same shape. The rows change with the program. Put the customer type, the service, how you are dealing with them, any country factor the program names, whether a PEP question arises, and whether a third party is providing the funds. Then record the rating the program allows, who signed, and the date.
Do not add a points table you found somewhere else. AUSTRAC’s rating guidance is the method your program adopts, not a blog arithmetic. If the sheet cannot be finished because a fact is missing, the rating is not done. Pausing the designated service is a program decision, not a blank box.
- One customer, one service. A group of companies is not one row. A person and the trust they control are not one row.
- Use the program’s ratings. If the program says low, medium, and high, the sheet does not invent a fourth label.
- Separate the firm-wide assessment. That document asks what the business is exposed to. This page asks about this customer.
- Date it. A rating with no date cannot be reviewed when the matter changes or when ongoing due diligence is due.
Sheet versus the firm assessment
How a template is customised for the business assessment is the risk assessment template. A short start on that business document is the risk assessment quick start.
A sorting aid for the one-page sheet. This table does not reproduce AUSTRAC’s customer risk-rating guidance.
| Document | Grain | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Customer worksheet | This customer on this service | The matter file |
| Firm ML/TF risk assessment | The business, its services, and its customer types | The program |
| Enhanced measures note | Why this file left the standard measures | The matter file, beside the worksheet |
| Check result | What the client-pays verification returned | The matter file, after the rating said to verify |
Where the one-page sheet stops
This page is the customer worksheet. It is not the firm-wide risk assessment and it is not a scoring formula. FreeAML does not fill the rating in for you. The compliance officer owns the method the program already set.
What the client pays
On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. The worksheet is not a priced check, and the rating only leads to a client-pays check when the program says this customer must be verified. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not set your customer risk ratings or approve a score the program does not use.
