Customer in a hurry to settle with incomplete ID
A customer in a hurry to settle with incomplete identification is a reason to pause. Speed is not a ground for skipping the check, and a promised photo is not the check.
Quick answer
A delay your program already allows is a written exception with an end point, and a booked removal is not that exception. Stop the designated service until the result is on the file. Do not tell the client which detail to change so a failed check passes. The firm emails a fresh link if the program says to run the check again, and the client pays it.
People search βrushed settlement AML red flagβ when settlement is booked for tomorrow and the identification check is still unfinished. Checked against AUSTRAC's delayed initial customer due diligence page on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. The delay rule itself is delayed initial CDD. The sector map is /tranche-2.
Tomorrow is not an exception
Rushed settlement AML red flag is the staff phrase for pressure plus a missing result. The pressure can be real. The removalist, the finance, and the other side's deadline do not collect KYC information. Initial customer due diligence is done before the designated service unless a delay your program allows is actually open, with an end.
A failed check is not repaired by a speech. If the program says the customer may try again through the proper step, send the link. Do not sit with them and point at the field that failed. This page does not say when a hurry becomes a suspicious matter.
- Pause the service. Incomplete identification means the designated service waits. A booking is not a completion.
- Use only a delay the program already wrote. A verbal 'we will sort it after settlement' is not the delayed-CDD rule.
- Reject the photo-and-promise. A picture in an email is not the result of the check. Store the result, or do not settle.
- Do not coach the retry. Telling the client which detail to change is outside the job. The check runs again as the check.
Pressure, sorted
A sorting aid for a settlement date that arrived first. This table does not reproduce AUSTRAC's delayed CDD guidance.
| What you are hearing | What it is | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Settlement tomorrow, ID unfinished | A reason to pause | A reason to complete |
| A delay the program already allows | A written exception with an end | A favour because the truck is booked |
| A photo and a promise | Not the check | Enough, because everyone is waiting |
| A failed check and a proper retry | The ordinary next step | A cue to mark the weak field |
Where the hurry page stops
This page is the unfinished check under time pressure. It is not how to file a suspicious matter. That sits on the suspicious matter report page. This page does not list indicators and it does not authorise a delay.
What the client pays
On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. Waiving identification because a settlement is close is not included in the firm suite. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not allow a settlement on incomplete identification, or tell a client which detail to change.
