No-subscription AML: what you still pay per check

No-subscription AML means you are not buying a monthly platform. It does not mean the check has no price, and on FreeAML the firm pays A$0 for the suite, and the client pays per check.

Quick answer

A firm that hears 'no subscription' and budgets nothing has misread the offer. The missing invoice is the monthly access fee. The check still has a list price: A$20 for a person's KYC and A$40 for a company or trust KYB. The firm emails the link, and the client pays, and there is no second, hidden platform fee in that model.

People search “no subscription AML” when a principal hears that the platform is free and tells the bookkeeper there will be no AML spend at all. Checked against the AUSTRAC obligations factsheet for Tranche 2 on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. The client-pays model is client-pays KYC in Australia. A wider cost picture is AML compliance cost in Australia. The sector map is /tranche-2.

Free platform, priced check

Subscription is the fee a firm pays every month for the right to log in, whether or not a file needs a check. No-subscription AML drops that invoice, and the verification is a different line. Someone completes it, and someone pays the provider for that completion. On this model the someone who pays is the client.

Tell the bookkeeper both halves. Nothing monthly for the suite. A$20 when a person is checked, A$40 when a company or a trust is checked, paid by the client, not recovered as a mystery disbursement the firm invented. If you were hoping the absence of a subscription made the check complimentary, that is the misunderstanding this page is for.

  • Name the missing invoice. It is the monthly access fee. It is not the check.
  • Name the price that remains. A$20 for personal KYC. A$40 for company or trust KYB. Those are the public list prices.
  • Name who pays it. The client, after the firm emails the link. The firm suite stays at A$0.
  • Do not budget zero. Program work, staff time, and the client's checks are still real. Only the platform subscription is absent.

Where the no-subscription page stops

This page is what you still pay per check when there is no subscription. It is not the argument for passing a cost to a client, and it is not a full compliance budget. Those are client-pays KYC in Australia and AML compliance cost in Australia.

What the client pays

On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. No subscription removes the firm's monthly platform invoice, and it leaves the client-pays list price of each check exactly where it is. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not waive the per-check price because there is no subscription.
