MemberCheck: screening tool, not your whole program

MemberCheck screens a name. A clear screen, or a hit, is not your AML/CTF program and it is not initial customer due diligence.

Quick answer

Use a screening tool for the screen your program asks for, such as sanctions or politically exposed persons. Do not use it as the enrolment, the program, the risk assessment, or the identity check. A hit is an escalation inside your program. A clear result is not permission to skip KYC; the client still pays the verification the program requires.

People search “MemberCheck AML use cases” when a firm buys MemberCheck and treats a clear screen as a finished AML program. Checked against AUSTRAC’s targeted financial sanctions page on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. Screening as its own job is sanctions screening in Australia. What a check covers beyond a list is what an AML check covers. The sector map is /tranche-2.

A list result is one input

MemberCheck AML use cases are real and narrow. A firm screens a customer, a beneficial owner, or a related person against sanctions or politically exposed person lists, then records what came back. That is a control inside a program. It is not the program; it does not describe your designated services, it does not appoint a compliance officer, and it does not prove a person is who they claim to be.

A suburban practice that buys the tool and stops has a login and a gap. A hit needs the escalation your program already wrote, which may include enhanced due diligence. A clear result means that screen was clear. It does not mean customer due diligence is finished; AUSTRAC’s sanctions page is the official context for designated persons; this article does not reproduce it and does not rank screening vendors.

  • Use it as a screen. Sanctions and politically exposed persons are list questions. Identity is a different question.
  • Write the hit path. A match goes to the compliance officer under the program. The tool does not close the file.
  • Do not worship a clear result. Clear means clear on that screen. It is not enrolment and it is not KYC.
  • Keep the program elsewhere. The starter kit, the risk assessment, and the officer appointment are not features of a screening login.

This page is the screening boundary. It is not enhanced due diligence. That page is enhanced customer due diligence.

What the client pays

On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. A third-party screening subscription is not included in the firm suite. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not treat a screening hit or a clear screen as a finished program.
