Is AUSTRAC enrolment free?

AUSTRAC enrolment is free in the sense that there is no application fee to lodge it. A separate industry contribution levy can apply to some larger reporting entities, and that levy is not the enrolment fee.

Quick answer

There is no AUSTRAC enrolment fee for lodging the form. The enrol guidance describes the form, not a price for sending it. Some larger reporting entities later pay an industry contribution levy, which this page does not calculate and does not quote. The cost a small firm should plan for is the program work and the client-pays checks, not an enrolment receipt.

People search β€œAUSTRAC enrolment fee” when a new reporting entity is hunting for an AUSTRAC invoice before it will enrol. Checked against AUSTRAC's enrol page on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. How to enrol is the AUSTRAC enrolment guide. What compliance actually costs a firm is AML compliance cost in Australia. The sector map is /tranche-2.

The form is not an application you pay to lodge

People search for an AUSTRAC enrolment fee because almost every other register has one. The enrol guidance tells a reporting entity how to enrol. It does not show a charge for lodging that enrolment. Treat the enrolment itself as free, and do not treat the rest of compliance as free.

An industry contribution levy is a different charge, and it is aimed at some larger reporting entities. This page does not quote a threshold and it does not quote a levy amount. A two-partner firm planning its first year should not put a made-up enrolment receipt in the budget.

  • Enrolment is the form. No application fee sits on the enrol guidance. Waiting for an invoice is how a firm delays a step that has no price.
  • The levy is not the fee. If a levy applies to your earnings later, it is not the price of pressing submit on enrolment. This page does not work it out.
  • The real spend is the work. Writing the program, training the people who touch files, and the checks the program names are the costs to plan.
  • Checks stay client-pays. The firm suite is A$0. The client pays the verification. That price is not an AUSTRAC enrolment fee.

Where the fee page stops

This page is whether enrolment has a fee. It is not the enrolment walk-through and it is not a full cost model. Use the AUSTRAC enrolment guide for the steps, and AML compliance cost in Australia for the wider spend.

What the client pays

On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. A free enrolment is not a free customer check, and the firm suite being A$0 does not change the client-pays price of verification. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not lodge your enrolment or calculate an industry levy.
