First annual compliance report after a July 2026 enrolment
The first annual compliance report is lodged for the first period in which the business is a reporting entity. It is not due on the day you enrol.
Quick answer
An AML compliance report to AUSTRAC is a periodic lodgement about how you complied, and a firm that enrols in July 2026 diarises the obligation then, and lodges when AUSTRAC’s date for that first period arrives. This page does not print a date AUSTRAC can move, and the compliance officer owns the diary. FreeAML does not lodge the report, and the firm suite is A$0. The client pays any check the program requires in the meantime.
People search “AML compliance report AUSTRAC” when a newly enrolled firm thinks the compliance report is part of the enrolment form and is about to invent a due date. Checked against AUSTRAC’s obligations and compliance page on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. How enrolment itself works is the AUSTRAC enrolment guide. Who owns the diary inside the firm is the AUSTRAC compliance officer. The sector map is /tranche-2.
Enrolment week is not report week
A reporting entity tells AUSTRAC how it is meeting its obligations on a cycle, not in the same sitting as enrolment, and the first AML compliance report AUSTRAC expects after a July 2026 enrolment is the report for the first period in which you were a reporting entity. The lodgement date is the date AUSTRAC publishes for that period. A blog that prints a day of the year will be wrong the moment the regulator moves it. Look up the date when you enrol, write it down, and give it an owner.
The owner in a small firm is the compliance officer, even when that person is also the principal. The report describes the program you actually ran: governance, customer due diligence, and the other obligations that applied to you. It is not a marketing summary and it is not the customer file. This page does not reproduce AUSTRAC’s obligations page and does not list the report’s fields.
- Diary it at enrolment. The form you lodge in July is enrolment. The report is later. Put both on the same page of the program so one is not forgotten.
- Use AUSTRAC’s date. Do not adopt a date from a seminar slide without checking the current instruction.
- Describe the period you were actually regulated. A firm that enrolled mid-year does not invent a full prior year of activity it did not have.
- Keep customer checks out of the report’s job. The report is about the firm. Each check remains a client-pays verification on the file.

| Lodgement | What it is | When people confuse it |
|---|---|---|
| Enrolment | Telling AUSTRAC the business is a reporting entity | Treating it as the annual report |
| Compliance report | The periodic account of how you complied | Expecting it on enrolment day |
| Suspicious matter report | A report of a particular suspicion | Saving suspicions for the annual report |
| A customer check | KYC or KYB on a file, client-pays | Thinking the annual report verifies customers |
Where the first-report page stops
This page is the timing idea of the first compliance report. It is not the form, the field list, or the due date. FreeAML does not lodge the report and does not enrol the firm.
What the client pays
On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. The compliance report is not a KYC or KYB product, and lodging it is not included in a client-pays check. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not lodge your compliance report or set the due date.
