Adding a new business to an existing AUSTRAC Online account

A new company with its own ABN is a different legal person from the business already enrolled. Sharing an AUSTRAC Online login does not make it the same reporting entity.

Quick answer

Decide the legal person before you click anything. A new ABN is a new enrolment question. A trading name on the same entity is not. A reporting group, if you want two entities treated together, is a different page and a different decision; do not park the new company’s customers under the old enrolment because the bookkeeper is the same; the firm suite does not add the business for you.

People search “add business AUSTRAC online” when a principal has opened a second company and wants to hang it off the AUSTRAC Online login they already use. Checked against AUSTRAC’s enrol with us page on 4 October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. This page does not reproduce that guidance. Whether two entities can be a reporting group is reporting groups. The first enrolment is the AUSTRAC enrolment guide. The sector map is /tranche-2.

Login, entity, and group are three things

AUSTRAC Online is where a person signs in. The reporting entity is the business that provides the designated service. A person can be allowed to see more than one entity.

That permission is not enrolment of the second company. A trading name added to a company you already enrolled is a different fact again. If the hope is that two companies count as one for the program, read the reporting-group page before you assume it.

  • New ABN. Treat it as its own enrolment question. The old receipt does not cover it.
  • Same ABN, new name. A trading name is not a new legal person. Check whether the enrolment details need an update.
  • Same bookkeeper. Shared staff do not merge entities. The customers still belong to the entity that provides the service.
  • Group, if you mean one. That decision is the reporting-group page, not a tick on the old account.

What you are actually adding

Sorting a second business against an existing login. This table does not reproduce AUSTRAC Online’s screens.

Where the extra-business page stops

This page is the difference between a login and a legal entity. It is not how reporting groups are formed, and it is not the first-time enrolment guide. Those are reporting groups and the AUSTRAC enrolment guide.

What the client pays

On FreeAML the firm suite is A$0. The firm emails the client a link. Verification is client-pays. On the public list a personal KYC check is A$20 and a company or trust KYB check is A$40. Use KYB when the customer is a company or a trust. Adding a legal entity is not a KYB check, and the firm suite does not lodge the new enrolment. Confirm the live amounts on FreeAML pricing. FreeAML does not add a legal entity to your AUSTRAC Online account or form a reporting group.
